I
have broadband and I want to make VoIP calls. How much will it
cost to set up?
- A normal touch dial
phone handset ($10), (you may have a spare)
which connects to
- a ROAM VoIP Box ($66
or $99) which is connected by ethernet
cable into a spare port in your
- broadband modem
If no spare port on the modem, then you will need
- a hub or switch ($33)
- makes one ethernet port into many ethernet ports, or you may
need
- a router ($99)
- most modems are also routers so only a hub or switch may be
required.
- a ROAM VoIP account
$5.50 to $22.00 per month

- a VoIP phone
- (about $150 on eBay - we reccomend Cisco - ensure it
is unlocked)

VoIP to VoIP Calls
ROAM VoIP users can not
only call other ROAM VoIP users for free, but they can also call
for free other Australian VoIP customers who use Astratel,
ATP, Binkley, Charles Sturt University, DDI2, Engin, Faktortel,
Fonebox, Freecall, Freshtel, Glennet, GTS, Koala, OzTel, SipMe and
Voxalot. ROAM VoIP customers can call into around
500 VoIP providers around the world.
Please Note: VoIP calls
chew through 250kB every minute (1MB every 4 minutes) on the leanest
codecs, as used by ROAM VoIP. Other codec's can chew over twice
as much data.

If you have purchased
a VoIP box previously and you are unhappy with with your current
VoIP service, then we can usually reprogram that box for you.
Please Note ***
Some Telephone companies actually lock out the ports of their ADSL
modems, so as you have to use their VoIP service, or none at all.
All
our Wireless parts can be used on any other wireless 802.11 network
(home, office etc). All our VoIP parts can be used with any other
VoIP service (except Skype).

DID Direct in
Dial Numbers - Real Phone Numbers Interstate or International
We can provide normal
telephone numbers in every Australian capital, most Australian STD
zones, and in 30 countries around the World to be linked to your
ROAM VoIP service.
How does it work?
We allocate a phone number
in the region that you have requested, and that phone number is
linked to the ROAM exchanges around the world. The exchange that
receives this call instantly diverts this call (without answering)
to your ROAM VoIP service anywhere around the world.
This service is used
by our customers who wish their customers, friends and relatives
to call them for the cost of a local phone call.
You do NOT have
to be a ROAM broadband customer, and you don't need a VoIP phone
to receive these services. We can divert calls from these
interstate or international DID (real phone numbers) to your landline
(12c untimed), or your mobile (34c/min).
